Childhood sexual abuse is something most people can’t fathom; unfortunately, it’s far too prevalent. According to the CDC, “Nearly 1 in 4 girls experience sexual abuse in childhood. 1 in 8 female rape victims reported that it occurred before age 10”. During our Support After Abortion Healing Network weekly Facebook Live event, Treion Dally of Crisis Pregnancy Center in Nevada shared her personal story on childhood sexual abuse and her journey to healing.

Treion’s sexual abuse started around age 5 from the son of a business owner her father worked for. The son was in charge of looking after her while their fathers worked. After some time, Treion shared her terrifying ordeals with her mother, who instructed her not to tell anyone. Unfortunately, Treion’s experience is all too common, allowing the abuse to continue for years.[ultimate_video u_video_url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhH1r2s-oXM” yt_autoplay=”” yt_sugg_video=”” yt_mute_control=”” yt_modest_branding=”” yt_privacy_mode=”” thumbnail=”custom” custom_thumb=”id^19687|url^https://supportafterabortion.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Healing-after-abortion-comes-through-unraveling-roots-like-sexual-abuse-EP06.png|caption^null|alt^null|title^Healing after abortion comes through unraveling roots like sexual abuse EP06|description^null” play_size=”75″ enable_sub_bar=””]At age 14, fed up with her situation, Treion lived in her car, used drugs & alcohol, and exchanged sex for meals and places to sleep. At 16, she became pregnant. Desperate and discouraged, Treion considered abortion, but ultimately decided to keep her child. She later had a second child and married the child’s father.

Treion’s journey through sexual abuse and abandonment left her feeling unworthy and unlovable. To fill the void, Treion tried to numb the pain of her past with drugs and a hazardous lifestyle. Her story mirrors many of the women who have been impacted by abortion. Unlike Treion, feeling desperate and discouraged often lead women to abandon their pregnancy and abort their child. Abortion is often another trauma that causes pain.

One of the tools Treion has used to continue her healing journey is Support After Abortion’s Unraveled Roots virtual support group. She is a testament that healing is possible.
