Abortion Recovery Centre
Reconciling Loss Finding Hope
The Abortion Recovery Centre (ARC) is a place of refuge, a safe space to share your story without judgement. We value each person who comes to us. We want to honour your story and your journey. We provide comfort, healing, and hope to individuals impacted by past abortions. All our trained peer supporters have experienced abortion(s) in their past, have walked the journey of pain, received significant healing, and are now giving back so others have the opportunity for healing. We believe healing is layered and involves body, mind, soul, spirit, and social well-being. We believe individuals have the capacity and resiliency to reconcile their abortion experience and pursue healing and wholeness.
All our services are free and confidential. Our options for you include: one on one sessions that are once a week for 8-10 weeks at 60 minutes a session. Group sessions run for 8-10 weeks once a week for 2 hours, through Zoom or in person. Groups are formed as needed. The curriculum we offer is Surrendering the Secret by Pat Layton and Living in Color By Jenny McDermid.
Disclaimer: The volunteers and paid staff of the Abortion Recovery Centre do not have academic degrees in counselling, nor are we licensed. Therefore, individual conversations, the group and/or one on one sessions are not intended as a substitute for professional counselling. We are committed to proving support that is within our knowledge base and mandate, and to help connect you with other community resources when deemed necessary by the participant and facilitator.
