Year-end reflection can ease emotional overload and support grief work after abortion. This webinar shares why reflection helps in after-abortion healing and walks through free printable tools for providers and clients (secular + faith-based) plus a 30-day follow-up.

YOU’LL WANT TO WATCH THE VIDEO REPLAY!

Most of us believe reflection is a good idea… until we’re tired, emotionally stretched, and the year has been a lot. Then reflection can feel risky. Like, “If I open that door, am I going to stir everything up?”

That’s exactly why this webinar replay is worth an hour of your time.

This isn’t a “set goals / hustle harder” training. It’s not a “do more, be more” kind of webinar, as communications manager Michele Mazelin said. It’s a chance to make a little room to notice what you’ve been carrying—as an after-abortion healing provider—and to give your clients a simple, steady way to name what’s real for them without getting flooded.

Watching the replay is invaluable because you’ll
— see the reflection tools on screen,

— observe multiple role plays using the tools, and
— hear the tone and pacing that makes reflection feel safe and compassionate.

WHY REFLECTION MATTERS IN AFTER-ABORTION HEALING

One of the most helpful takeaways from the opening section is this: reflection isn’t about “digging around” for its own sake. It’s about giving the nervous system somewhere to put what you’ve been holding.

Michele shares research showing that naming emotions helps settle the brain’s alarm system and brings the thinking part of the brain online—which is why prompts like “What did I carry this year?” can actually help someone move from chaos toward calm.

She also shared a memorable picture of what this can feel like using a personal example to support research showing that sometimes reflection brings a brief spike of discomfort… but that even with the discomfort, reflection can be a meaningful part of learning how to process and stay afloat.

In the replay, you’ll learn:

  • Why reflection matters
  • 6 Tips for using reflections with men
  • 4 Tasks for moving through grief (and you can explore more about that here)

WHAT YOU’LL GET FROM WATCHING THIS WEBINAR REPLAY

You’ll walk away with a powerful set of tools you can use immediately—plus the language to introduce them in a compassionate way that doesn’t feel clinical, cheesy, or performative.

1) A provider reflection tool that respects boundaries

The “What Am I Carrying?” reflection gives after-abortion healing providers a way to notice emotional load, mental/identity weight, relational strain, and (optionally) spiritual tension. It also guides them to consider what resonates most, what could help, what might be holding them back, and something to take into the next season.

Kylee also gives a really important leadership reminder: reflection can go sideways in teams if there aren’t clear boundaries. The replay includes best practices that protect trust—and HR concerns, liability, and team dynamics. These include guiding your team to complete reflection privately, identifying that no sharing is required, and encouraging individuals to choose a trusted person for support if something heavy surfaces.

2) Two client reflection tools—secular and faith-based—so you can meet people where they are

You’ll see how to select which tools based on the type of group you are leading OR most importantly, offering both to clients and allowing them to choose whether they prefer to use the secular or religious version.

When you watch the replay, you get a chance to observe a role play of how a conversation using these tools might sound. Some tips are that the provider keeps it light, safe, and practical:

  • “This isn’t a test.”
  • “You can skip anything that doesn’t fit.”
  • “This is a way to get a few things on paper so they’re not stuck in your head.”

The prompts are simple but powerful: what you carried, what hurt, what helped, what you’re ready to let go of, and what you want to make room for next. (And yes—small things count. A dog. A walk. A late-night talk with a sister.)

3) A “mirror, validate, offer follow-up” mini-skill you can use everywhere

Michele pulls back the curtain on three active-listening steps used on the After Abortion Line, modeled in the role play:

  • Mirror what they shared
  • Validate their feelings/experience
  • Offer follow-up so they’re not left hanging when something heavy comes up

If you’ve ever wanted language that helps a client feel seen and heard without over-talking, the replay is full of it.

One attendee said, “I like the mirror/validate/offering follow-up that Michele is utilizing. It transfers to “compassion” for the client(s).

The replays were a big hit with attendees:

“The role plays were so helpful in demonstrating the things that were shared throughout.” – Attendee

4) The 30-day check-in: a built-in way to circle back

The 30-day tool is designed to keep reflections from becoming “a notebook that goes on the shelf.” It gently asks what feels the same, what feels lighter (even slightly), what helped, what made it harder, what support is needed next, and one tiny step for the coming week.

Michele frames it perfectly: it’s “a compass, not a grade.” And she gives a practical phrase for when nothing has shifted: “Nothing feels better… yet.” (One attendee offered an alternate that stuck with the group: “Meanwhile, God is at work.”)

A GROUNDING FINISH AFTER REFLECTIONS

The webinar closes with a short, guided grounding moment (with a visual breathing cue in the slides) and a simple sentence-starter that can help focus you and your clients:  “For this next stretch of time, I want to make a little more room for ______.”
That might be rest, honesty, laughter, boundaries, prayer—whatever fits for you.

It’s a simple and effective way to help people come down from emotional intensity and leave steadier.

IF YOU WATCH ONE HOUR THIS WEEK…

Let it be this replay—not just because it has great information, but because it’s modeled. You’ll hear the tone, see the tools on screen, and watch how reflection can be offered in a way that feels safe, doable, and surprisingly relieving.

And you can walk through it as part of your own self-care.

Watch the replay with your handouts nearby—and feel free to pause and practice the prompts for yourself as you go.

That can help you get into a healthy, solid space to guide your clients through their own reflections. And you, your team, and your clients will be walking stronger into the next season.
