This Quarterly Facilitator Training wasn’t your typical webinar! Karin, Nyles, and Stacey brought the learning to life through four powerful role plays showing what not to do and what to do instead when facilitating abortion healing groups.
Facilitation is more than words. So, you’ll want to see how body language, expressions, and pacing create (or collapse) safety.
Hit play to catch the cues a summary or recap can’t capture!
Here’s what the role plays were about:
Role Play 1 – Exaggerated Responses
How overreacting can shut a participant down—and how staying grounded, validating, and calm builds trust.
Role Play 2 – Body Language
How dismissive posture and tone can feel belittling, versus how leaning in and softening your tone creates safety.
Role Play 3 – Making Assumptions
How quickly jumping in with your own interpretation can erase a participant’s meaning—and how to ask curious, open-ended questions instead.
Role Play 4 – Facial Expressions
How subtle expressions of disapproval can break safety—and how compassionate, attuned expressions can help someone feel held and understood.
💡 Throughout the training, you’ll hear them pause to process each scene, reflect on how it felt as participants, and respond to questions from attendees about real-world group dynamics.
🎥 This is one you really need to watch!
So much of what makes these interactions effective—the tone, posture, eye contact, and facial expressions—can only be learned by seeing it in action.

What Attendees Are Saying . . .
“Great training! I’m looking forward to sharing this with our facilitators. I valued the emphasis on asking open questions and not responding too quickly.”
“The most meaningful parts for me were processing how each scenario made people feel. The Q & A was also helpful, to hear how different situations could be handled.”
“The webinar was very helpful—I appreciated all of it. It was engaging and touched on topics that will help us grow as facilitators. The main idea for me is that compassion and listening are key.”
“It was a very good session, filled with realistic topics and where we can fail as facilitators. The key idea for me is to allow time and space for the client to think, express fully their feelings and insights. Don’t rush the session.”
“The part that was especially meaningful for me was being fully ready to apologize and ask forgiveness for any offenses or misunderstandings. I loved how realistic the role plays were. Some were cringe-worthy, but helped me to better identify what not to say.”
