Abortion regret can lead to suicide. Learn how abortion support can help.

We launched our first-ever Support After Abortion Healing Network on Facebook Live on May 5, 2020. Karin Barbito, Support After Abortion’s Programming Director interviewed Jack and Shelia Harper from SaveOne. SaveOne is a global ministry helping men, women, and families restore after abortion. You can purchase their abortion support curriculum, sign up to launch a chapter and so much more by visiting their website at www.saveone.org.

The event was well attended and proved to be more than anything we expected. Two women hurting after abortion shared their pain after an abortion with the group. One woman shared, “I had an abortion last year. I think about dying all the time.” Seconds after she pressed submit, she received several very compassionate and supportive comments from women who could relate to her pain. One viewer responded, “I was where you are, but found healing. There is hope and healing. Will be praying for you.”

During the interview, Shelia shared her personal experience with abortion regret. Shelia shared that she struggled for seven years after her abortion experience. Much like the comment from the woman who shared during the Live event, Shelia stated, “I wanted to die. I tried to die. I attempted suicide.”

Shelia’s after-abortion support story is incredibly empowering. She attributes her healing to a pregnancy center Bible study on after abortion care. Shelia stated, “I got connected to Jesus. He’s the one who healed me inside and out, showed me how to forgive myself and accept his abundant life. I was set free from this self-imposed prison that I had put on myself.” After experiencing healing after abortion, Shelia wanted to help others heal as well. She began leading after abortion support groups. What she learned helped to launch SaveOne.

Along their 20 year journey of supporting women hurting after abortion through SaveOne, Jack and Shelia learned of the need to support men and families as well. Jack shared his personal experience of helping men after abortion. Listen here.
